Introducing Spoke & Terrain, Issue No. 1. I had the amazing opportunity this year to design a gravel magazine for OBED Bikes. Working with OBED's content writer and marketing team, I developed branding, stylized images, logos, and layout design to compliment the passionate stories being shared. What started as a free digital project quickly became a printed product offered for free on obedbikes.com. It was a neat learning experience of working with printers and getting the file just right before sending off to print. This overall has been one of my favorite projects to work on outside of college.
One of the coolest projects I have been able to work on: creating decal designs for OBED Bikes. This project had total creative freedom with one goal in mind: making bikes look interesting. Knowing OBED's brand and audience, I focused on bright patterns that would pair well with the paint options available on these bikes. These decals were printed, which allows for different designs and better customization for customers. The "trippin" and "groovin" stickers come with the bikes so that the customer are able to place where them they want, a personal touch that hits home for me, as I very much love placing stickers wherever I please.
I created an event poster for a collaborative event between OBED Bikes and Velo Coffee. This posted was used across social media platforms and printed on small posters to be placed around town. When designing this poster I had to keep in mind that the design must work for both brands, as well as generate interest for the event.
While working at American Bicycle Group, I had the privilege of working on designing headtube badges for our Litespeed Bicycles brand. The intention was to have the customer be able to pick out which badge they wanted on their bikes, so I created two different designs. One with a more technical and performance feel to it, the other with topographic lines, which gives the feeling of adventure. The badges presented a unique challenge as the design had unique size constraints: the badge had to be one size but work on all different sized frames. The other aspect I had to think about was how these designs worked with Litespeed's anodization techniques to color the titanium.
While working at American Bicycle Group, I have had the opportunity to design t-shirts for each brand under ABG, a swim bag for triathletes under our Quintana Roo brand, and a runner's hat for the 2023 Kona Quintana Roo Triathletes. Each brand is a little different, so I had to think about the audience for each of them and what designs appeal to them.
Coffee Quest is a subscription box I developed branding and package design for in my senior year of college. Coffee Quest gives subscribers the opportunity to taste favorite drinks from all over the work and then develop a profile from a year of consistent tastings. The box comes with three drinks and a tasting card to fill out and upload to your online profile.
Buena Onda is a craft beer brand I developed in my junior year of college. The goal was to design successful packaging and branding that embodied the mission of the company. I designed a brand guide, package design, and promotional material.
The Equilibrium of Design is a DVD series I designed my in sophomore year of college. The task was to unite four graphic designers through a concept that would drive the visuals for DVD covers. This series would then be sold to schools through amazon as they feature educational documentaries on each designer featured. I united James Victore, Stephan Sagmeister, Peter Saville, and Art Chantry.
